Where can I donate crocheted or knitted items for abused children?

Embracing Hope Project

In the United States, child abuse occurs approximately every ten seconds, and approximately five children die as a result of child abuse each day. The goal of the Embracing Hope Project is to provide children, who are victims of child abuse and dealing with trauma, a stuffed bear as a symbol of HOPE. The bears are crocheted or knitted by individuals in several different countries and donated to the children through emergency response teams and family resource centers.

The group accepts any animal or doll, as long as they are hand-made and crocheted or knitted. The project does not require money donations; however, they do accept donations of yarn, ribbon and stuffing. If you know how to crochet or knit and are interested in donating a stuffed animal, more information and patterns for the bears can be found on the Embracing Hope Project website at http://embracinghopeproject.weebly.com/ or for updates, information and pictures visit their Facebook Fan page at www.facebook.com/embracinghopeprojsocal.
